Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire

Teaser: Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson)

Hoee...I was trying to download this trailer all night in the office and it kept getting stuck until finally Google-ed it and found another site. My brain must be slowing down. Yes, anyway, this is the international teaser, not trailer.

So there was a lot of footage moving seriously fast, with so much action scenes...it looks threatening. Somehow it needed to be viewed a few times - but there were glimpses that nicely dramatized. Lots of weird misplaced scenes though. Since this is only a teaser I won't expect much. It's enough to give the impression that this time it's going to be more drama, more explosions, less goth, less confusion...I hope. And a lot of messy moptops.

Btw, the girl playing Fleur Delacour is very pretty :) As she ought to be.

Goblet of Fire has this thing about making the protagonist capable of doing anything - things that you expect are almost impossible - and making him seriously heroic... which sometimes just reminds me too much of anime. It was somewhat showy... well, if the movie can grasp that, maybe it would be good for me. Neways...not yet, not yet...it's just the teaser...Man, they should hurry up...

Memoirs of A Geisha

Trailer: Memoirs of A Geisha (Zhang Ziyi, Ken Watanabe, Michelle Yeoh, Gong Li)

The trailer sent me some shivers. The music was very effective, I thought it was just...grand.

It's a comforting fact that Ken Watanabe is the Chairman... One reason might be that he's actually Japanese... I really liked the guy in The Last Samurai, though not too sure if he's going to repeat the feat... I felt that the Chairman seemed a reserved kind of person, not too sure what he's thinking...etc. Maybe not as enigmatic as the samurai, but aren't they almost the same? Oh well, I've forgotten half the book already. Need to revise.

Michelle Yeoh looks perfect for the role of Mameha...seriously, she's just perfect! She's beautiful as she looks resourceful and wise. Gong Li...oooo...looks fierce. I kinda think Maggie Cheung suits the jealous woman bitchy-like (like she did in Hero) but Gong Li is just as well. Zhang Ziyi? Hmm. Dunno. Not a big fan of her acting. But we'll have to see the final thing - before we can decide if she's just going to be screamy-tantrumy. Like most of the time.

Why, oh why, are the lead actresses here all chinese? Hello? Not enough beautiful, talented Japanese actresses meh?

Pride and Prejudice

Trailer: Pride & Prejudice (Keira Knightly)

I don't know how many times they're gonna remake Jane Austen classics. Actually I still do like watching movies that feature Jane Austen although some might think it rather unadventurous, cheesy and just typical girly stuff, but uh, I guess I'm quite a sucker for it. And for that matter I wouldn't mind Keira playing as Elizabeth Benett! (And if Colin Firth was Mr Darcy it wld have been perfect, haha) Perhaps it will all be an entirely same experience as before, but well, I am sure there are lots of people out there who don't know Jane Austen at all (the horror.) So why not. Bring it on, again.

I love the music towards the end of the trailer, if I'm not mistaken, it's probably from Love Actually soundtrack, but I'm not sure. Lately I've been annoyed at the fact that there are these great music in trailers but I can't recognise them. The last time LOTR came out with the music from Requiem of a Dream. I've been dying to know what music was playing in the beginning of Crash's trailer.

emptiest

Reflections for the past week.

The movie Crash that I watched yesterday kind of turned the tap running (if you know what I mean) non stop. Went from one thought to another like some kind of trailer. Anyway it was a real movie with some obvious but sometimes ignored emotions that we all probably have... well. I do not deem to know myself but it is clear when Bullock's character went "I am angry all the time and I don't know why," I feel that my feelings are somewhere in that vicinity too.

Nevertheless at the speed that I am hurled into events, let's just hope that I do not crash, too.
